Otro bloque más del Patchwork Party Winter 2008. Se llama "Pinwheels on Parade". :)
Bueno, al final no fué tan duro... sólo tenía mil piezas chiquititas...
Another more block of the Patchwork Party Winter 2008. Its name, "Pinwheels on Parade". I do not know how but after doing the first and easiest one, I took another one and it turned out to be the more complex one... what was I thinking? After that I saw in the Patchwork Party website that there are some tips to do the blocks following a sequence, from the easiest to the most difficult one... but I went straight from the first to last with no parachute! :)
Well, at the end it was not so hard... it just had a thousand small pieces...

Yesterday I could finally open my present from the swap organised by El Rincón de Paloma. How much fun! Since it was my first present this year, because my family, we are a bit weird and since the day we are all together is on x-mas eve, well, we exchange presents that day after eating the grapes, hehe... but this one came in advance!
It was sent by Loli from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, from the blog Taller de Loli, and she sent me so beautiful things that I am not quite sure the pictures will be fair to the reality. Anyway there you have.
I also can show you now the things I sent in the same swap to Vero, from Las cosas de Vero, and that I hope she liked them as well: I sent a bracelet of swaroski crystals, a scissor-keeper and a needler-keeper all made by hand, and some pieces of fabric, felt, embroidery and quilting thread, buttons, needles and some laces.

Of one of them I wanted to put a picture of it because it is really beautiful and you must see it complete.

Before going to spend X-mas eve with my family I show you the first finished block of the Patchwork Party Winter 2008, its name, "Mixed Quartet". I was not very sure of how this combination of colours would turn out, because they are so very different fabrics and to tell the truth, blue is not my favourite colour, but I think it looks beautiful and I am looking forward to do the other blocks. By machine goes really fast but sewing by hand as I do, each block needs a while during one or two afternoons. I hope these holiday days I can give it a push while I wait for the finishing kit. How do you like it?

Alphabet Garden
For the new year, in El Rincón de Paloma, they are organizing a new SAL that is really a beauty. It is called Alphabet Garden and you can see it in this blog. I have already enlisted, of course, although I am not quite sure yet on in how many pieces I will have to divide myself (how is it that amoebas did, was it bipartition?) to be able to follow all... hehe... ok ok, I will cope, I am sure.
For those interested I have found in the web a place (here) where apparently you can order the kit with all the fabrics needed to finish it. This might be useful for those that have just started in patchwork and we still do not have a big collection of fabrics, or that we do not have a patchwork shop close to our home.
Update: apparently the web where they sell the kit does not work, it is a pity... if anybody finds another place where it is sold please leave a post.

Yesterday I did not win the lottery, no... not even the reinbursement... but I received the present that I won in the draw that Maria Jose Corapensa (the Bruja Pepa) made in her blog for the 30.000 visits! I was so excited!
She sent me a lot of things. A "stitcher's" mobile phone case (the lace to hang it is a measuring tape in cm and inches), in one of my favourite colours and in which my mobile is already confortably installed, some thread spools, laces, a brooch in the shape of a flower, a cm ruler and some candles...
Muchisimas gracias!! Thank you very much!!

It is been some time since I wanted to show you my mum's handwork... this for example is a jewel that she showed me the other day, from the time when she was going to school. It is a collection of samples that they used to do in the stitching lessons in that period, and it is made with a linen with such a closely-woven linen that I hardly imagine how she made it to count the threads. It is such a beauty.
Let's see if it is true when they say... "like father, like son" or... "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"... snif!
Some pictures more in detail of the different types of embroidery: from Canary Islands, lagarterano, vask, from Oropesa, colchado, from the Alpujarra, segovian, from Mallorca, from talavera and finally the deshilado of Lagartera, which is really beautiful.

Astrocats
Some time ago I enlisted a X-Sticht SAL organised by Elveawen (we will start in January) but I forgot to put it in my blog. They are so beautiful kittens! The deadline to join in the end of the year, here.

Simply Sophisticated Star
Finally, here you have the second block of the Simply Sophisticated Mistery BOM. It is called Simply Sophisticated Star and here you can see it together with the first one (I just realised that I did not tell you its the name in the previous post, the first one is The Brownie Nine Patch). I also must do two of each but I wanted to upload it to the blog, later on I will start the second one. I looks like done in violets in the photo, but in real is a chocolate brown, and what I like the most of it is that it seems to have a volumen. Do you like it?
